What flowers are in season in late summer in Seattle?

Here are some of the flowers blooming in late summer (mid-August through mid-September) in the Pacific Northwest. This is not an exhaustive list, but rather a starting point to give you some ideas and to show the flowers I grow on my farm.

Late summer is luscious with tomatoes and dahlias. The grass may be dry and golden, but the flowers are saturated with color. It’s the perfect time of year for unctuous garden parties dripping with foliage and nasturtiums.

“I love borders. August is the border between summer and autumn; it is the most beautiful month I know. Twilight is the border between day and night, and the shore is the border between sea and land. The border is longing: when both have fallen in love but still haven't said anything. The border is to be on the way. It is the way that is the most important thing.” -Tove Jansson
