Join me at the woodshop in Crow Valley on Orcas Island on the Winter Solstice, Sunday, December 21, from 1-3pm, to learn the art of beeswax candle dipping.
We will gather around the sweetly scented wax pot to dip a traditional taper candle. After a short break, we will dive back in, this time with the open-ended time to play. I will demonstrate different designs and shapes. You should leave with one classic taper, one creative taper of your own design, and a booklet with information on dipping your own candles.
Candle dipping is a meditative practice that requires patience and presence. Children as students are welcome, but children under 10 may not fully enjoy this slow pace.
No need to bring anything special, though beeswax stains can be difficult to remove from some fabrics, so you may not want to dress in your best finery.
